Your Airbnb listing description is the first thing a potential guest will look at after clicking on your listing. It needs to be written very carefully to make your listing stand out from the competition. A common mistake that a lot of hosts make is to skip writing a long hosting description altogether. Airbnb’s search ranking algorithm prefers complete listings over listings that are missing things like descriptions, house rules, or amenities. Make sure you spend a good amount of time thinking about your listing’s best selling points and features.

What Do I include in My Airbnb Listing Description?

Airbnb limits the length of the listing description so you want to put your best copy in this section. A lot of guests won’t bother to read beyond the description to section that follows it, so make the description great!

Include amenities that other listings in your market don’t have. Make your listing stand out by telling the guest why it is the best option in your area. If you have cool features like a fire pit table or a smart TV, be sure to describe them. If you have convenience items or smart home devices like smart locks, smart lighting, Amazon Alexa, or a smart thermostat, be sure to tell guests about them to peak their interest.

Mention whether or not you provide cable TV or streaming services. Other things like board games are helpful, so the guest knows they’ll have some kind of entertainment.

Sell an Experience, Rather Than A Physical Space.

Start sentences with verbs and give the guest a call to action. Use phrases like “experience nature,” or “enjoy luxury”. Use a lot of positive adjectives when describing the space. Instead of saying “Master bedroom with a bed”, say “amazing master bedroom with luxury king bed and private bathroom.”

Be Accurate

Accuracy in your Airbnb listing description is very important. If guests feel like they were misled by the description, this might impact your overall reviews on Airbnb. You might even end up having to get a review removed.
