Messaging Automation:
- smartbnb – Our all-time favorite app that helps us with our professional hosting is smartbnb. We go over what it does in length, but basically it allows us to automate multiple messages over the course of any guest’s stay, as well as coordinate our staff and cleaning services.
Pricing Automation:
- Wheelhouse –Â A must have app for Airbnb, TripAdvisor, & Flipkey hosts. Wheelhouse provides hosts with much better pricing, which helps them book their listing more often, but also for more money. Do not miss this one in our pricing optimization overview.
Market Data:
- AirDNA –Â If you are looking to purchase a short term rental, but don’t know where to buy – you need to check out AirDNA. It will help you make an informed decision on what the best city for you to buy in is.
Rental Platforms
- Airbnb –Â The obvious choice in home-sharing and short term rentals.
- HomeAway –Â Another option and Airbnb competitor.
- VRBO –Â A HomeAway partner and another popular choice.
- TripAdvisor Rentals (formerly FlipKey) –Â Another recommended option with fees similar to Airbnb.
- Booking.com –Â Our least favorite, but still viable booking platform.

- Thumbtack – For finding cleaning services, handymen, and other contractors – it is good to shop around for bids to ensure you get a competitive price. Thumbtack does this for you by getting bids from local contractors automatically and allowing you to choose the best one.
- QuickBooks Online –Â Keep track of your expenses and income and know how your business is doing. This will also be a big help when tax time rolls around.
